What Information Is Needed for a Liquid Chemical Transport Quotation?
Preparing a liquid chemical transport enquiry with only the departure and destination cities can leave important operational details unclear. Two products travelling along the same route may have different requirements for equipment, site acceptance and delivery planning.
Sharing product and shipment information at the outset clarifies the scope of the quotation. Reviewing the following seven points together helps purchasing, production and logistics teams reduce the need for further explanations and revisions.

1. Product name and current safety information

Provide the product's trade name, its technical name where possible, and an up-to-date Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Include available transport classification information. Its accuracy should be confirmed with the product supplier and qualified specialists.
Do not assume that a particular tank or transport method is suitable before the product requirements are understood. Product assessment at the quotation stage does not replace the operational and technical review of the shipment.

2. Shipment quantity and frequency

State the total quantity separately from the amount planned for each shipment. Clearly specify the unit of measurement, such as tonnes or litres, and provide product density where needed for technical planning.
Explain whether the request concerns a one-off shipment, weekly deliveries or a regular supply flow. Estimated monthly volumes and seasonal changes help assess capacity requirements for recurring transport.

3. Loading and unloading addresses

Along with the city, provide the full facility address and, where applicable, the terminal and loading point. For international shipments, include available information about customs clearance and delivery terms.
Share details such as site entry procedures, appointment systems and vehicle acceptance restrictions in advance. This allows the site operation to be assessed alongside the route.

4. Dates and delivery flexibility

Specify the planned loading date, delivery window and any fixed acceptance time. Explain separately if the product's availability differs from the facility's vehicle acceptance hours.
Delivery flexibility is also useful information. Providing alternative dates may allow different transport options to be considered. Any specific transit time or delivery guarantee requires separate agreement.

5. Equipment requirements specific to the product and site

State known requirements such as temperature conditions, connection types and loading or unloading equipment. Share the site's technical specification if available. Suitability must be assessed by considering the product characteristics together with the equipment's actual technical conditions.

6. Services expected within the quotation

List any needs beyond transport separately, such as storage, tank cleaning or coordination between transport modes. Confirm in the quotation whether these services are included and under what conditions.
When comparing quotations, review the scope and conditions as well as the total price. Clarify in advance how waiting time, additional site operations and changes to the plan will be handled.

7. Operational contacts

In addition to the purchasing contact, provide the operational contacts at the loading and unloading facilities. Knowing who can answer technical questions helps clarify the plan more efficiently.

How to prepare a quotation request

You can organise your enquiry using this short checklist:
  • Product name and current SDS
  • Quantity per shipment and shipment frequency
  • Loading and unloading facilities
  • Planned dates and acceptance hours
  • Known technical requirements
  • Services required beyond transport
  • Operational and purchasing contacts
This information provides a starting point for defining the quotation scope. Additional information and documents may be requested during the product and route assessment.
